Last summer I experienced my first stint of ‘travelling’, if you can class three weeks and five days backpacking throughout Western and Southern Europe as travelling, that is. And in hindsight, I loved every minute of it.
This post is less of a commentary, and more of an opportunity to share some of those moments with you and hopefully encourage you to undertake the same trip. Plus, its a diversion away from some of the more hardcore, political chit-chat I usually post about.
Inter-railing, in my opinion, is a cost-effective method which allows you to see a lot in a short amount of time. (Trust me, we got our money’s worth). The pass enabled us to travel through six different countries and exposed us all both to the hustle and bustle of the European capitals, as well as giving us a taste for some local, authentic culture.
Below is a selection of photos in chronological order of the trip, and if you have any questions/recommendations on places to go in these places feel free to comment below. I’m more than happy to offer some advice!
The main thing I learnt from this trip is how experiencing and seeing different regions/cultures/cities is an absolute must. And that is the moral of the story I took away. It is true that you get a “taste for travel” and once I’ve got my degree out the way, the plan is to get some more travelling under my belt!
So, summer 2016 anybody?
VIENNA (a few)
ITALY – VENICE
VIENNA —> ANCONA (There’s not a great deal there, but it makes a great stop-off for a few days with a beautiful beach)
PISA —-> FLORENCE
LA SPEZIA (My Favourite Destination)
VERONA/ LAKE GARDA
INTERLAKEN – SWITZERLAND
These are a few personal pictures from the trip as opposed to the traditional iconographic images you may have expected. They aren’t all mine so thank you to the guys who they belong to – you know who you are!
I hope you enjoy
