This evening I went to a candle lit vigil held at my university in commemoration for those who lost their lives in Paris on Friday, as well as the victims in Lebanon, Syria and Iraq.
It was a humbling experience just to see so many people come together in unison, all with the same sympathies for the innocent people who have lost their lives to terrorism.
I do not wish to say too much in this post, nor do I desire to regurgitate the reasons why terrorism is abhorrent because I am sure you do not all need reminding. It was comforting to see that in a space that at times witnesses contentious forms of student activism, there was an unequivocal expression of solidarity and compassion.
To the Islamic State,
Killing innocents will never be the dignified solution to your problems.
